This was a fast paced game with Wrexham applying a lot of pressure early in the game. Again it was a small team but fast and tough playing. After a couple of great saves by Ravon the team picked up their level of play after the 1st 15 minutes. A great pass from Grayson to Brennan almost scored a goal but was batted away at the last minute. Josh and Christopher continued with the pressure with another close ball putting their goalie to work.
Then a a ball intercepted by Connor D in defense was carried through 3 defenders for a picture perfect ball in front of the goal for tap in by Keaton to have us on the board. 1-0.
Ryan held up and almost had a break way but was robbed by the goalie. Then Grayson had a beautiful cross to Keaton to have the final goal leading to a 2-0 victory.
Quote of the Day
“I don’t think I could have a higher opinion of any footballer than I already had of the Irishman, but he rose even further in my estimation at the Stadio Delle Alpi. The minute he was booked and out of the final he seemed to redouble his efforts to get the team there. It was the most emphatic display of selflessness I have seen on a football field. Pounding over every blade of grass, competing if he would rather die of exhaustion than lose, he inspired all around him. I felt it was an honour to be associated with such a player.”
Sir Alex Ferguson (on Roy Keane after the European Cup semi-final in 1999)
