Quote of the Day

“I don’t think I could have a higher opinion of any footballer than I already had of the Irishman, but he rose even further in my estimation at the Stadio Delle Alpi. The minute he was booked and out of the final he seemed to redouble his efforts to get the team there. It was the most emphatic display of selflessness I have seen on a football field. Pounding over every blade of grass, competing if he would rather die of exhaustion than lose, he inspired all around him. I felt it was an honour to be associated with such a player.”

U14 Boys Game Report - 07/30/08

Suffice to say this game could be called “The Wreck at Wrexham.” It is unfortunate that ALL the boys happened to leave their games either in Ireland or on the bus from all the travel. They looked slow and tired against a very good team from Wrexham. Adding to their woes was the fact that the Wrexham team also had two guest players using this game as their tryout for entry into the Liverpool Academy program on a full-time basis. From our opinion, the will likely make the Academy. Our boys were dominated from start to finish and ended up on the wrong side of a 7-0 scoreline. The game was never really close as the Wrexham team came out fired up and aggressive versus our boys who came out flat and looking very tired. Give Wrexham their due, this was a very, very good football team. No additional details are really necessary and we hope the boys will pick it up again tomorrow and get back on track.
